West Coast Pirates based in Perth , Western Australia. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/WARLPirates Twitter: @WARLPirates Website : http://westcoastpirates.com.au/ Another bid I love. I’m actually a member of the Pirates. I got a ball and a hat and some other stuff. There is no Rugby league team there. They have AFL , Cricket , Basketball and soccer. It’s time we got our foot in the door. It’s important that we realise Western Reds didn’t really fail. They had no assistant from the ARL and came into the fold at a time were even the big clubs struggled. WA Rugby league chairman David Hobbs likes to put emphasis on the fact that Reds didn’t fail. “Back then we had 18,000 registered members and an average crowd at the WACA of 17,500. We also had to pay for flights and accommodation of visiting teams, which was just ridiculous. And since then we've had a massive influx of people from strong league states which take up permanent residency in WA from Queensland, NSW, New Zealand and the UK” You can read more about what he had to say a few years ago here : http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/nrl/perth-based-nrl-team-would-provide-huge-windfall-chairman/story-fn7shzfu-1226028730783 A team in Western Australia would be great for the game. It can’t be the national competition with teams only on one coast. It would bring big money into the local economy and would expand the coverage of Rugby league. The Pirates want to provide a better opportunity to youngsters passionate in the game. Currently there is only so far they can go before they have to move to the East coast and find a team in QLD, NSW etc. If they are successful with their bid the Pirates will be supporting junior and indigenous development through game mentoring programs throughout Western Australia .They are aiming to be one of the top 5 recognised and respected sporting brands in Australia by 2020*. Click on the link below. To find out more about the Pirates and their plan*: http://westcoastpirates.com.au/the-pirates-plan/ I really think they are one of the stronger bids . They offer a new area for league to conquer a whole state dying to be infected with the rugby league bug. They would be aiming for a 13-15 k crowd on average but if they do get a great team together I reckon they can easily sell out nib stadium week after week. Plus they have one of the coolest names and logos. Link below shows Western Reds average crowds: http://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/matches/Custom/MjMtLS0tLTMyLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLQ== Target signings: Cory Paterson , Waqa Blake , Curtis Rona , Aaron Whitchurch , Bryson Goodwin Rivals : Warriors , Raiders , Storm * The Plan might not have been updated. The NRL was supposed to have already given a team the nod by now. Please like MattsSportal on Facebook HERE My Opinions on some of the hottest backs in the game .... I want to hear to hear yours!! Another rising rugby league star may have given in to league's cashed up rivals. Ben Te'o .The young QLD and Souths Star has told teammates he will explore his options in French and English rugby after Souths signed Glenn Stewart earlier this week. Broncos's coach Anthony Griffin was asked if they would make a play to secure Ben’s services in 2015 and beyond . He insisted they do not have the financial capabilities to engage in a bidding war with European rugby clubs. Warriors have offered him a massive deal reported to be around $650 000 per season but Te'o looks set to push the offer aside and head to Union. The Sharks are circling !!! With Benji soon be announced a Shark*. Cronulla are now favourites to also sign Bulldogs Co-Captain Michael Ennis. Sharks must have been so hurt by Canterbury stealing their rising star Michael Lichaa that they've decided to go poach their Captain. *Benji could still end up at another club such as Melbourne Storm or Canterbury Bulldogs Multiple sources suggest Karmichael Hunt will return to Brisbane Broncos in 2015. Yesterday the RL Mole claimed Hunt was set to knock back a bid from the Bulldogs to return to the Broncos in 2015. Today I have been informed ( from a reliable source ) that during the off season / preseason when it was alleged Hunt had signed for the Broncos for 2015 the GC Suns and AFL threatened legal action. They were scared of a PR blow up ,,, Hunt was still under contract so the AFL had every right. So it seems Hunt will be at Broncos in 2015 or it's all just bullshit. But the real question is ..... Do the Broncos really need him ? Karmichael Hunt wanted out in the AFL pre season. He apparently approached Brisbane Broncos . Multiple sources suggest Karmichael Hunt will return to Brisbane Broncos in 2015.
Such as the Australian .The snippet below is from Dan Koch’s ‘Broncos pinch playmakers plan from Bulldogs’ article published on March 5th, 2014. “It now appears the coach Anthony Griffin and football manager Andrew Gee had been working with the belief that the Raiders star Anthony Milford and former Broncos ace Karmichael Hunt would be a part of the playing group for 2014.” But the newest and most solid evidence is The Mole from Rugby League week. Who claims Hunt is set to knock back a bid from the Bulldogs to return to the Broncos in 2015. (as seen in the image below) At the present time it is just speculation but it is very exciting to think that such a talent may be returning to our sport.
